Weavers Way’s David Woo to appear on Radio Times
Weavers Way’s former Board President David Woo will appear on Radio Times this Friday morning at 11 a.m. to discuss the success of the co-op model in America. Guest host Maiken Scott will be sitting in for Marty Moss-Coane.
Also joining Woo on Radio Times will be Marion Nestle, a health and nutrition professor at New York University, and Bill Gessner, a co-op consultant.
Nestle is the keynote speaker this Saturday in Philadelphia for the national Consumer Cooperative Management Association Conference. She told NewsWorks for a previous story that the co-op model fits right in with her work. “Co-ops are an alternative business model and my work is about the politics of food, particularly how our current corporate, free market, and industrial business models affect nutrition and public health,” she said. “It’s what I already do.”
The event at the Center City Marriott is being hosted by the Mt. Airy-based Weavers Way Co-op. Philadelphia has a history of co-ops,” said Weavers Way spokesman Jonathan McGoran. “There’s so much really cool co-op activity going on right now.”
