Water leak forces prisoner evacuation in Philadelphia
A pipe that burst at Philadelphia Police Headquarters this weekend forced the evacuation of 45 prisoners.
According to Philly.com, the pipe burst Sunday night, just before 6:30 p.m. inside of the headquarter building at Eighth and Race Streets.
Water began gushing from a line that was connected to the sprinkler system in the building, according to Philly.com, forcing officers to move the prisoners to cells at Ninth District Headquarters.
Philly.com says many of the prisoners had been taken into custody over the holiday weekend.
By Sunday night, firefighters managed to stop the leak.
