Watch: Cop removes juice carton from skunk’s head

An Ocean Gate police officer recently escaped a potentially stinky situation.

While on routine evening patron, Ptl. Jonathan Whitney encountered a skunk with an orange juice box stuck on its head.

He recorded the encounter, during which he was verbally trying to figure out how to help the animal.

“Ok, I might get skunked,” he says in the video. “This is a skunk with a Burger King orange juice on its head. And it’s stuck. And it can’t see.”

After walking around his patrol car and down the road during a low-speed pursuit while attempting to grab the carton, Whitney succeeded about two minutes into the situation, quickly retreating to avoid being sprayed.

The Ocean Gate Police Department advises the public to not interact with wild animals.

“If you encounter a wild animal please leave it to the professionals, and if there are no professionals, contact Ptl. Whitney,” a Facebook posting said.
