Voting begins for top 10 N.J. beaches

The annual race to bump Wildwood out of the top spot has begun. The “New Jersey’s Top 10 Beaches” contest opened today, allowing Shore-goers the opportunity to vote for the best place to plunk their chairs along the Jersey coast.

The Wildwoods are the reigning champs, taking first place three out of the last four years.

Other Ocean, Cape May and Monmouth county beaches made last year’s list, but the width of Wildwood beaches (one factor in deciding the winner) can’t be beat.

Aside from the public vote, beach width, the dune system and coastal environment are all part of the consideration. The list will be announced before Memorial Day Weekend.
