Vineland solves cake debate in time for birthday party

Seems everyone’d birthday wish is coming true for Vineland’s 150th anniversary party.

Mayor Robert Romano and his Blue Ribbon Committee found themselves between a rock and a hard place earlier this week when it was revealed the city’s birthday cake would come from a famous Hoboken bakery instead of a local one. The cake from reality TV’s Cake Boss star will bring attention to the city, but serving local baked goods made the most sense for the bash.

Turns out there was an easy compromise. The Daily Journal reports the city will go ahead with the Cake Boss cake, and serve treats from the local bakeries beside it.

The Sweet Life Bakery, Crust N Krumbs Bakery and Jim Main’s Italian Bakery and Pizza will display their cakes at no cost to the city on tables they’re providing themselves.

The bash is set for Sunday and the cakes will be on display at Vineland High School.
