Vineland posting all school arrests online

A southern New Jersey police department has begun posting online all the arrests it makes at local schools.

Police in Vineland tell The Press of Atlantic City the postings do not represent a change in policy but instead reflect what they should have been doing all along.

Since Jan. 2, the Vineland police department has announced the arrests of 20 students on its websites, including its Facebook page.

School officials are declining comment on what they think of the police department’s decision.

But Schools Superintendent Mary Gruccio says the action has led the district to review all incidents it must report to the state. She says she wants to know what all the arrests are for, including whether all are warranted.
