Vineland man shot in the heart with nail gun hopes to be home for Easter

    Vineland resident Dennis Hennis is ready to leave the hospital a week after he shot himself in the heart with a nail gun.

    Hennis was doing work on a neighbor’s roof Saturday when his nail gun jammed.
    In an interview with Action News
    , he explains how he accidentally sent a three and a half inch nail into his heart, prompting an ambulance ride, a chopper lift to Cooper Hospital and a resuscitation in between.

    Hennis would like to be out of the hospital in time to spend Easter with his family and get back to work. His family si collecting donations to help him pay his medical expenses.
