Victim identified, suspect arrested in Germantown homicide

Philadelphia Police released the identity of a man who died from multiple gunshot wounds in the doorway of a Fernhill Road apartment building on Wednesday.

They also said the shooter has been charged with homicide in connection with the case for which self-defense was originally broached as a possibility.

Kirby Frederick, 39, from the 1800 block of Harrison St. in Frankford, was declared dead from multiple gunshots to the torso and back, a police spokeswoman said Monday.

Arrested and charged with murder and related offenses was Christopher Crowell, 25, of the 6000 block of N. 12th St. in Fern Rock.
