Vegans’ answer to Wing Bowl includes roller skating

Wing Bowls past might have kept vegans at home as the city devotes itself to a day full of meat consumption.

But in Philadelphia, there’s always an alternative. The second annual Vegan Wing Bowl is scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Northern Liberties.

“The Vegan Wing Bowl is the ultimate alternative sports-sponsored eating contest in the City of Sisterly Shove,” according to the Philly Roller Girls, who team up with venue Abbaye for the event.

You won’t get chicken and cheerleaders at the event, but the seitan-eating competition will have entertainment. Eaters have to consume as many wings as possible during two-minute rounds of roller derby jams.
