U.S. Education Secretary supports Race to the Top freeze in Christina

U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan says he supports the freezing of Race to the Top funds meant for the Christina School District.

In a letter to the Wilmington News Journal, Duncan called the move “tough but courageous.”

Duncan says he supports the decision by Delaware’s Department of Education and Gov. Jack Markell in response to the district’s vote against improvements at Glasgow High School and Stubbs Elementary, which the department says goes against the Race to the Top funding guidelines.
