US Bureau of Labor reports Delaware leads nation in employment growth

Regional and state unemployment rates changed minimally in September.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today that Delaware and Kansas had the largest monthly increase in employment, up 0.4 percent each.
At the other end of the spectrum, the largest over-the-month percentage decline in employment occurred in Hawaii, followed by Vermont and Wyoming.
The national report also showed that between September 2014 and September 2015 Delaware was one of 33 states that had statistically significant employment gains, adding 7,600 jobs.
In addition, the national jobless rate was unchanged from August 2015 at 5.1 percent. The report highlighted that since September 2014, forty-one states and the District of Columbia had unemployment rate decreases from a year earlier, seven states had increases, and two states had no change.
The Delaware Department of Labor reported last Friday that Delaware’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September was 4.9 percent, up from 4.8 in August, but still lower than the national rate.
