Up in arms over Philadelphia Magazine cover

Most glossy mags try to suck you in with covers featuring pouty, scantily clad celebs or the latest shining gizmo from (insert tech megaconglomerate here). Philadelphia Magazine, though, is not known for being most magazines. And a recent cover story (and cover) has some seeing red.

The topic of the cover, the story and the meaning behind both is being hotly debated on the PhillySpeaks forum, some deplore the seeming slur against Baby Boomers. Says contributor Moonraker: “I take personal offense at being asked to die off, as if our worth no more than Soylent Green.” Much of the sentiment skewed toward that opinion, though discussions about the fate of Social Security and resources did pop up.

And then there were some who were surprised at the magazine’s contents for different reasons. Said forum contributor Marc: “Wow…not sure I realized PhillyMag was still around; learn something new everyday.” Indeed.
