Manhole mystery

An underground explosion in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood sent manhole covers flying into the air this morning, CBS Philly reports.

Luckily, it happened well after closing time in the popular entertainment district.

Peco is investigating the cause of the explosion – there wasn’t a visible fire, but there’s enough smoke to make it difficult to pinpoint the problem.

Street closures will continue through the morning rush: Market Street is closed from 3rd to Front and 2nd Street is closed from Chestnut to Arch.
