Two women injured in serious Toms River crash Wednesday afternoon

A serious two-vehicle crash in Toms River sent two women to area hospitals Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police and emergency medical units responded to the intersection of Kettle Creek Road and Brand Road at 2:50 p.m., said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.

Nicole Sheridan, 20, of Ada Court in Toms River was operating a 2010 Nissan Sentra in the eastbound lane of Kettle Creek Road when she was struck by Nicole Sublinskey, 19, of Birch Lane in Toms River, who was operating a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle in the northbound lane of Brand Road.

As Sublinskey entered the intersection, which is controlled by a stop sign, her car struck Sheridan’s vehicle, according to Stocco.

Sheridan was transported to Ocean Medical Center for treatment of a minor injury, while Sublinskey was flown by medevac helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of a head injury, Stocco said.

Sublinskey was issued a summons for failing to obey a traffic control device by investigating Officer David Bartoshek.
