Two motorcyclists killed after colliding

    State police say a crash involving two motorcycles in Monmouth County has left both riders dead.

    The men were identified late Sunday evening as Mikalai Monak, 46, of Jamesburg and Michael Doney, 58, of Sayreville.

    The crash on Route 524 in Upper Freehold Township was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.

    The Asbury Park Press reports that Doney was traveling westbound when he attempted to turn onto Sharon Station Road. That’s when Monak’s eastbound motorcycle struck Doney’s motorcycle, according to the report.

    Authorities shut down a stretch of the roadway while the investigated the accident.

    It didn’t appear that any other vehicles were involved in the accident. No other injuries were reported.

    The investigation is ongoing.
