Arrest in deadly Delaware hammer attack

Delaware State police have arrested a man accused of killing a 48-year-old New Castle man and his 52-year-old caregiver with a hammer

50-year-old Mactavish Alexander is accused of bludgeoning his victims to death in a brutal hammer attack on Saturday.  Alexander is facing charges including two counts of muder.  He’s being held without bail.

Police were called to a home in the 4000 block of New Castle Ave. by family members of John Taylor. He is mentally disabled and family members were concerned they could not reach him or his caregiver, Mary Dale.

The discovery was made around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two bodies were discovered in separate parts of the house.
