Two Events Honor Veterans May 25

    Two ceremonies in Germantown on Saturday, May 25, will honor America’s veterans, at Market Square and at the ACES Museum and Vernon Park.

    State Rep. Steve Kinsey (D. 201st) will host a Salute to Veterans at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Market Square, Germantown Avenue and Schoolhouse Lane. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. and includes a wreath laying, performances by Germantown High School ROTC members and drummers, information on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder , a screening of the movie “Veterans of Color,” a presentation to veterans, and a free lunch. Kinsey’s office at 215-848-6592.Then from noon to 5 p.m., celebrate the 6th annual Day of Honor for Minority Soldiers of World War II at ACES Museum, 5801 Germantown Avenue, and across the street in Vernon Park. The program will feature a community appreciation barbeque, DJ, moon bounce and a visit from Elmo for the kids, and a medal ceremony from 3-4 p.m. Please register your veteran at ACES Museum to get your appreciation package.
