Two car accidents leave 2 dead, 1 injured

Two people were killed and one injured in two separate car accidents over night.

The first happened around 8:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard between Haldeman Avenue and Comly Road. The driver of the vehicle rear-ended a flatbed truck, leaving the car’s two male passengers trapped inside. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and traffic in the northbound lanes was closed until the accident was cleared.

Then around 4:15 this morning, a 19-year-old male was injured when he flipped his car in Lawncrest. Reports say the driver fell asleep at the wheel and lost control on the 5900-block of Hasbrook Avenue. He was treated at Temple University Hospital for hand and arm injuries.
