Trenton Titans rise again after Devils are cast out

Less than a month after the Trenton Devils folded, minor league hockey has returned to New Jersey’s capital city. The new Trenton Titans team, affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers, will play in the 2011-2012 season.

Rich Lisk is president and CEO of the new team and partner in its managing company, Blue Line Sports LLC. He says it’s a dream come true.

“In the last couple of weeks, we were able to put together an investment team and bring back the Trenton Titans,” said Lisk, who worked for the original Titans. The New Jersey Devils bought that team and renamed it in 2006. The Devils team folded because of poor attendance.

Lisk says eight players under contract from the Devils will remain with the new Titans, and others will be recruited with the help of the Flyers. Opening night at the Sun National Bank Center is Oct. 22.
