Trash fee veto

Vineland City Council tonight could enacts its powers to override the mayor’s veto on a flat trash fee. Mayor Robert Romano opposes the suggested change for fear of burdening those on fixed incomes and incurring costs to the city.

Council wants the flat fee, which would be effective July 1, to replace to current system of charging residents based on their property values. Councilman Louis Cresci told the Daily Journal he believes it’s unfair to charge higher pickup rates to those with larger properties.

Council could vote tonight at its last meeting of the year if a resolution is added to the meeting agenda.
