The nonprofit, which helps homeless families get back on their feet and keep them there, has also expanded its operations. 4. Roysce Haynes is scheduled to appear in Philadelphia Municipal Court on Tuesday. Haynes, 28, allegedly strangled his pregnant girlfriend in their East Germantown apartment in early September. Check back to learn more about the gruesome crime and the result of next week’s preliminary hearing.

5. Back in September, we wrote about the addition of a crossing guard at Francis D. Pastorious Elementary School in Germantown. A first grader was struck by a car at a nearby intersection in April, prompting a community push for the new hire. The story got us thinking about crossing guards and how beloved some are to students, parents and staff. We’d like to highlight that bond, but we need you to tell us which crossing guards provide it. Please send us your nominations for an upcoming series.
