Top 3 stories to watch in NW Philly

Here’s a look at what’s to come:

1.Volunteers will fan out across Northwest Philadelphia on Monday to participate in a variety of projects tied to the annual Martin Luther King Day of Service. NewsWorks will be on hand at a few of those events, including cleanup efforts at a playground in Mount Airy and along the Schylkill River bike trail.

2.The annual State of Manayunk address is set for Tuesday, a day after President Obama is sworn into office. The event, hosted by the Manayunk Development Corporation, gives residents a chance to catch up on the community development organization’s work during the past year and learn what’s in the works.

3.The price of your everyday stamp will go up by a penny on Jan. 27. It’ll cost you 46 cents moving forward. NewsWorks will check in with residents at post offices in Northwest Philadelphia to see how they feel about forking the extra coin.
