Today, NewsWorks‘ Northwest Philadelphia team launches a week-long look at our favorite photographs of the year.

We’ll start at 50 and count down daily, in intervals of 10, until Friday, when the the top 10 photos will appear.

Today we take a look at numbers 41 to 50.

They include photos from the days after Carlesha Freeland-Gaithers abduction, Halloween as done in Manayunk, a memorial in Mt. Airy to those killed by gun violence, a vigil for missing Roxborough man Shane Montgomery’s safe return, the coming-up of a new playground in Manayunk, the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Venice Island, a girls’ soccer team playing at Vernon Park in Germantown, a man on a mission to clean up the Wissahickon, a fire-eating fellow in Germantown and U.S. Rep.
