Here’s a look at what’s to come on NewsWorks this week:

1. A smaller, more contained iteration of the West Oak Jazz Festival took place inside the Keswick Theater in nearby Glenside, Pa. on Saturday. The seven-hour event featured just a handful of performances, including one by Roy Ayers. Similar to the festival’s days on Ogontz Avenue, all proceeds will go to the Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation, who is organizing the event.

2. Maplewood Mall, a tucked-away retail pod in Germantown, is on its way to receiving a much-needed makeover thanks to a multi-million dollar grant from the city. The cash infusion made Saturday’s “Reimagine Maplewood Mall” block party that much more celebratory. The event featured live music, work by local artists, food and activities for kids.

3. Six-year-old Sienna Storey isn’t visiting Philadelphia for long. She’s hoping to make an impact here nonetheless. On Friday, Sweet Elizabeth’s Cakes in Manayunk will be selling special batches of chocolate chip cookies, which Storey will help bake. Part of the proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

4. The Manayunk Arts Festival returned to Main Street this weekend. Much of the commercial corridor was blocked off and lined with artist tents and food vendors. Check back this week for a full recap of the annual event.

5. A section of Mt. Airy has become overrun with garbage-hungry raccoons. Neighbors are split on what do about what’s believed to be a family affair. Some want to leave the critters to their own devices. Others are ready to call pest control. Check NewsWorks this week for that story.
