Toms River police seek information in locating armed robbery suspect

The Toms River Police Department is seeking information regarding an armed robbery at a Route 37 business Tuesday evening.

Shortly before 9 p.m., multiple police units responded to the Got Sun Tanning Salon located at 1214 Route 37 East on a report of a robbery, said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for Toms River Police Department.

A 23-year-old male employee told police that a man entered the store and went behind the reception desk, threatening him with a box cutter, Stocco said.

The suspect demanded all of the money from the register before fleeing out the rear door into a parking lot with an undetermined amount of cash, according to Stocco.

The wanted man is described as white and between 5-feet, 3-inches and 5-feet, 5-inches tall. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood up, and his face was covered with a surgical or dust mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Louis Santora at (732) 349-0150 x1276.
