Tom Knox one step closer to Philly mayoral run

In news that will surprise no one, Tom Knox has filed a Political Committee Registration Statement to run for mayor of Philadelphia.

He announced earlier this month that he would consider another run for mayor, but not for governor of Pennsylvania.”This filing is the next logical and necessary step in the process,” Knox said in a press statement. “I love this city and am deeply concerned about its condition. Our economy is stagnant, the level of taxation is a barrier to business, our public education system is in shambles, and the level of gun-related violence is unacceptable.”

The statement was filed April 15 with the Board of Election and Board of Ethics, and Knox is now “recruiting seasoned campaign professionals” while he considers launching a formal campaign.

Knox last ran for mayor in 2007.
