Toddler fight club at Delaware daycare?
Dover Police arrested three employees of Hands of Our Future daycare for allegedly encouraging 3-year-olds to fight each other.
Detectives arrested 19-year-old Tiana Harris, 21-year-old Estefania Myers and 47-year-old Lisa Parker Monday, after viewing cell phone video of an incident police say occurred back in March. The video is said to show the three women encouraging the toddlers to fight each other inside the daycare located at 868 S. State Street in Dover.
“It is shocking and infuriating,” says Dover Police Captain Tim Stump. He says the video depicts “two three-year-olds just wailing on each other with these adults present.” And while the children weren’t seriously injured in the fight, Stump says, they were clearly hurting each other.
“These people we entrust to care for some of our most precious cargo, and to see the way that they…were handling themselves as adults was just sickening.”
Police charged all three defendants with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangering and conspiracy.
The daycare’s license has been suspended pending a hearing. Meantime, Dover Police will host a question and answer session for affected parents tonight at 6:00 p.m. inside the police department.
