Tips for raising advertising-savvy kids

    ‘Tis the season when retailers intensify efforts to hook custromers. We look at marketing tactics aimed at children with Sherri Hope Culver, the director of the Center for Media and Information Literacy at Temple University.

    She says kids might know when tehy are being targeted with TV commercials but they might not be aware of pitches directed toward them in other media and in other contexts.

    During this season of giving, she says, it’s important for parents to talk to their kids about wants and needs, what it means to be grateful for the gifts they get and the importance of giving to others.
