Third rabies case of 2011 reported in Cumberland County

    A rabid raccoon has become Cumberland County’s third reported rabies case of 2011.

    The News of Cumberland County reports the raccoon was discovered in Deerfield Township chasing and hissing at workers earlier this month.

    The Cumberland County Health Department confirmed the rabies case earlier this week.

    The News of Cumberland County says it’s not clear if other animals were exposed to the raccoon.
