Immigration

Supports stronger border security and a path to citizenship for people already in the U.S. illegally. Believes that those who have committed a crime should be deported and opposes in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants.

Tax Policy

Supports simpler tax code, flattening out the bracket system, and providing tax incentives for savings and investments. Favors repeal of federal estate tax, which he argues hurts inheritors of small businesses when founders die.

Reproductive Rights

Describes himself as “pro-life” but has not come out against abortion in all situations. Supports parental notification for minors and a late-term abortion ban; opposes use of tax dollars to fund abortions.

Health Policy

Favors repeal of Affordable Care Act. Supports measures to create more competition in the market such as allowing insurance to be sold across state lines.

Endorsed by EMILY’s List, an influential national group that supports female candidates.
The national Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has spent more than $1 million on ads attacking her Republican opponent.

Immigration

Supports tighter border security and a tough-but-fair path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, including payment of back taxes and deportation for those who commit crimes. 

Tax Policy

Supports raising the federal minimum wage and abolishing tax loopholes that allow businesses to move jobs overseas. 

Reproductive Rights

Describes herself as “pro-choice” and supports increased access to birth control for women.

Health Policy

Wants to fix, rather than repeal, Affordable Care Act. Supports federal funding for cancer research and for women’s health care services such as mammograms. Supports letting Medicare negotiate for lower prescription drug prices as Medicaid does.
