Heavy metal thieves

Two men are accused of taking a twelve-foot-tall light pole, several ten-foot-long steel beams and other materials from developments in Milford, Delaware.

Delaware State Police say Michael Zimmer and Brandon Beene both of Harrington stole the material that belonged to Country Life Homes and Hearthstone Manor developments, and then sold some of it at an auto salvage shop.  Zimmer and Beene are facing charges including theft, conspiracy, and criminal trespass.

The theft of metal objects of all types has been on the rise in recent years, due in part to the poor economy and the rising prices for metals.
