They loved their Northwest Philly parks this weekend [gallery]

Despite the expected rainy weather, volunteers turned out at some parks in Northwest Philadelphia on Saturday to spruce up the green spaces in honor of this year’s Love Your Park Spring Service Day.

The initiative, a partnership between Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy to help support and maintain the City’s numerous parks and green spaces, did not draw 100 percent attendance.

Planned activities at some of the 16 Northwest Philadelphia parks did not happen as scheduled, including those at the Fountain St. Steps in Manayunk, Vernon Park in Germantown and Wissahickon Neighbors Park, but there’s still time for sprucing since the service day kicks off a park-loving week.
