The Point at Cape Henlopen closed to protect birds

The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park will be closed through September to protect migrating birds who nest in the area.

The beach and dunes will be closed in addition to a half mile stretch along the bay shoreline to benefit piping plovers, oyster catchers, least terns and other threatened or endangered shorebirds. The ocean side of The Point will reopen September 1, the bay side area will reopen October 1.
