The Hunger Games tops opening day records for non-sequel

Hunger Games, the movie, opened in theaters this past Friday and the Associated Press reports that it took in over $68 million, domestically.

Though the release fell short of Harry Potter’s final fore, and each of the three Twilight sequels, Hunger Games is holding its spot at number five in the opening day record books as the best opening day record for a non-sequel.

Though it’s not a sequel, it is part of a trilogy and there are other stories to come.
