The great pumpking shortage? Farmers warn of shortage across region

When Charlie Brown talked about the Great Pumpkin in the 1966 Peanuts classic, he probably wasn’t worried about a pumpkin shortage.

This year, at least in the northeastern part of the country, pumpkin fans may be facing a pumpkin shortage, courtesy of Hurricane Irene.

Fox 29 reports Irene destroyed hundreds of pumpkin patches across the region, prompting some farmers to warn fans of a potential shortage.

According to Fox 29, some farmers are even trying to buy pumpkins from other regions just to cover orders.
