Thanks to Edward Snowden, Americans have learned about the vast scope of the NSA’s accumulation of metadata. Two federal judges have accused the NSA of violating the constitution. A presidential panel has issued wide-ranging criticisms of the agency’s misbehavior and called for major changes in the way it operates. So we’re having the “conversation” nearly everyone says we should have had years ago, thanks to Snowden. Thus far he’s been repaid with a charge of espionage.
