Temple selects architect to design proposed football stadium

Temple University has selected an architect for a proposed football stadium on its north Philadelphia campus.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the university announced Monday that it has chosen Moody Nolan to design the facility. The Columbus, Ohio-based company calls itself the largest African American-owned and -managed architecture firm in the country.

Temple’s board of trustees voted last month to spend up to $1 million on designs and study of a 35,000-seat stadium that’s expected to cost $126 million.

The project has drawn opposition from some students and residents. University spokesman Ray Betzner says the firm’s CEO has met with community members and the company’s willingness to work with neighbors made it the clear choice.
