The four year contract was approved by 95 percent of the voting members of the Temple Association of University Professionals. The association represents nearly 1300 university employees. Art Hochner is head of the union. He says they are quite pleased with the deal which took 14 months to hammer out.

Hochner: I think it’s remarkable what we were able to achieve at a time of economic turmoil. Especially when other unions are giving back salary and giving back benefits we didn’t give back anything and made some very good gains.

Hochner says the pay and benefit gains should help Temple retain and hire quality faculty. The agreement still needs ratification by Temple’s Trustees on September 24th.
