Teacher sues Council Rock School District over harassment, discrimination [updated]

A former Council Rock South teacher has filed suit against the district, alleging sexual harassment, discrimination and failure by the school to address her complaints.

Kerri Gubelli, a former English teacher at the school, says she was terminated in late April after more than a year of harassment by students and some fellow teachers.

“The district has done whatever they could to ruin my career,” she wrote in an email to Philadelphia magazine.

Gubelli says she often felt unsafe manning the school’s hallways by herself and eventually sought therapy to deal with the stress.

Update, Nov. 21, 2012: The case has been resolved and the terms of Gubelli’s separation from the district are confidential.
