Tax free

Tax abatement probably tops the list as a recession buzz word(s), but the Daily New’s AJ Thompson is proposing one of a different sort. Thompson’s proposed the “Kenzo Tax Abatement,” calling for the opportunity to allow certain residents of Kensington to have a five-year tax reprieve.

His argument? The neighborhood’s not getting anything from taxes, so why should it be paying them? Thompson maintains the people who’ve stuck it out and carried the burden of being from Kensington, home of the Strangler, deserve a chance to have again what was once there.

Feed the Feed: Should neighborhoods not benefitting from taxes have to pay as much to the government?
