Talking sustainability: International leaders discuss sustainability in Philly

This week, international business and government leaders met in Philadelphia as part of a United Nations symposium on sustainable building.

Mayor Michael Nutter was on hand to discuss ways Philadelphia was taking on green city initiatives.

NewsWorks Carolyn Beeler reports the mayor said getting voters to expect sustainable policy would ensure green initiatives would make it past a four or eight-year term.

“We pick up people’s trash once a week. If someone ever proposed not do that, people would go beserk,” Nutter told the panel.

Former Toronto Mayor David Miller was also in attendance, calling on leaders to use evidence of locally effective practices to help shape national and international policy.
