Sweet and clear

Peter Crimmins has this mouth watering update:

The Franklin Fountain has begun to make it’s seasonal specialty: clear toy candies. The hard-candy figurines are only made during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, mainly for climate reasons (it’s less humid, and cooler – making sugar molds easier to handle).

This year they are using their brand-new kichen on top of Shane Confectionery, next door at Market and Front Street. Very soon they will be re-opening the 99 year-old candy shop, as soon as historic renovations are complete.

Peter paid the candy maker a visit earlier today, and will have a report on All Things Considered.
