Sweeney calls on Senate Republicans to help with New Jersey budget override

It’s a long shot, given Democrats are three votes shy of an override, byt N.J. Senate President Stephen Sweeney is asking his Republican colleagues to help cancel out Gov. Chris Christie’s budget vetoes.

Sweeney yesterday called on legislators for the “vote of conscience” to help reduce the $1 billion in cuts Christie made to the $30.6 billon budget proposal.

NJ.com reports Sweeney has scheduled an override vote for Monday, and is planning at least one more summer session. Christie is out of town on vacation.
