Woolwich Township, N.J., will be putting on its annual Locke Avenue Fun Day on Saturday.  It’s the 12th year for the event, which will again take place in Swedesboro’s Locke Avenue Park.

All the staples of a great community fair will be present, from kettle corn and carnival rides to live entertainment and fireworks.

Attendees will find a “welcome walkway” lined with local crafters and vendors and a dedicated ”food alley” with plenty of festival fare.

All day on the main stage catch performances from local musicians like Blame the Kids, Chapter Four, Danny Eyer and Back Creek.  Over at the amphitheatre, there will be presentations from school choruses, drama clubs, karate and dance students, plus the Swedesboro Performing Arts Academy.

Pet lovers will want to enter their furry best friend(s) in the Fun Day pet contests.  There are categories for best kisser, waggiest tail and best dance moves.  Proud pet parents can register in person at the orange FURever As Friends tent.

Besides amusement rides and inflatables, there will be pony rides and a petting zoo to enchant the kids.  Face painters will also be on hand to transform little mugs.

At 5 p.m., sluggers young and old can participate in the Kingsway Baseball Home Run Derby over at the Locke Ave. Little League fields.  The contest is divided into four age categories and cost $20 to enter. Proceeds benefit the Kingsway Dugout Club. Registration form (pdf).

Fireworks will cap off the evening at dusk (9 p.m.).

Admission to the event and all entertainment is free.  Unlimited ride wristbands cost $25 or folks can purchase tickets separately in sheets.  Bring cash, as credit cards will not be accepted.

May 30, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. (rain date May 31) – 58 Locke Ave., Swedesboro, NJ
