SWAT team thwarts Logan home invasion

Two burglars’ plans went awry Sunday night in the Logan section of Philadelphia after a neighbor heard them loudly ransacking a property and called 911 at about 9:30 p.m. A SWAT team arrived shortly thereafter, surrounding the home and trapping the gunmen inside.

According to police, the homeowner on the 5100 block of North Warnock St. heard a knock on the door and was hit on the head with a revolver after opening to the two armed robbers, Ralph Summers, 21, from the 5700 block of North 17th Street and Steve Eads, 22.

The victim blacked out and awoke ducked taped to a chair in his home while the two gunmen ransacked the home.

Police negotiators were able to convince the gunmen to surrender calmly. Both Summers and Eads have been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, and other offenses.
