Suspect in Seaside Park, NYC explosion now in police custody

    UPDATE: Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, of Elizabeth is now in custody after a shoot-out with police in Linden, police say. At least one police officer was shot in a bulletproof vest and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Rahami, who is alive, suffered at least one gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to an area hospital. A full update is available here.

    A manhunt is underway for a 28-year-old man wanted for questioning in connection with explosions over the weekend in Seaside Park and New York City, police said.

    Authorities are seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami of Elizabeth, an United States citizen of Afgan descent, according to a New Jersey State Police release.

    He is described as being five-feet, six-inches tall and approximately 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He appears different in all three pictures issued by police. 

    Rahami is considered “armed and dangerous,” according to police. 

    Authorities have not linked Rahami to bombs found last night in Elizabeth. 

    No additional individuals have been identified.
