Suspect arrested in Mt. Airy Wawa robbery

Police have arrested suspect Richard Issac in relation to a robbery that took place at the Wawa in Mt. Airy on Sept. 9. 

 

At 3:20 a.m. 31-year-old male and a 26-year-old female were inside the Wawa located at 7236 Germantown Ave. when they were involved in a verbal altercation with three unknown females and two unknown males.

The verbal altercation moved outside at which point the male complainant was struck in the head with an unknown object. He was knocked to the ground and when he looked up he saw one of the suspects armed with a handgun while one of the female suspects went into the female complainant’s car and took her cellphone and $300.

The male suspects then fled on foot and were last seen south on Germantown Avenue while the females entered a green Ford Explorer with a partial license plate of JHX and were also last seen south on Germantown Avenue. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

On Sept. 19,  a 14th District office saw the surveillance video from this incident and recognized the suspect, who was armed during this robbery.

Shortly after forwarding this information to the detectives, Isaac was arrested without further incident on Sept. 22.

Issac is 26 years old and is from the 100 block of Albanus Street. Isaac is charged with robbery and related offenses.
