Studying delirium: 4 New Jersey hospitals take part in study

Four New Jersey hospitals are taking part in a study researchers hope will lead to finding new ways to combat the delirium that can strike hospital patients.

The Star-Ledger reports the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s University Hospital in Newark, Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center in Summit and Newark Beth Israel are all taking part in the study.

The four hospitals each received nearly $100,000 to focus on different ways to improve their patients conditions during the study, which is scheduled to begin next month.

The Star-Ledger says delirium acquired in a hospital has been described by doctors, nurses and other hospital workers.
