Students rally for more community input on Renaissance plans

Students, parents, teachers, and education advocates rallied outside of Philadelphia School District headquarters on Friday sending a message that their voices cannot be ignored.Amidst chants of “more collaboration, no intimidation and “we deserve a choice, we deserve a voice,” demonstrators were asking school officials to offer parents, teachers, and students a greater role in the school reform process and have open dialogue or forums for discussion about tough school district decisions, as well as ending a rule of intimidation. Also at the rally was Hope Moffett, an Audenried High School teacher who was removed from her classroom for endangering the “safety and welfare” of her students after she was outspoken about Ackerman’s reforms.  Moffett still awaits a disciplinary hearing.   For the full story read Paul Socolar’s story ‘More collaboration. No intimidation’ from the Public School Notebook.
