Students honored for accomplishments in afterschool STEAM program [gallery]
At an awards ceremony last week, students involved with Philadelphia Center for Arts and Technology’s STEAM project were honored for a wide array of projects.
STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Students between kindergarten and the 12th grade participated in PCAT’s eight-week afterschool program focused on those areas of interest.
“The sky is the limit and they know it,” said STEAM supervisor Annie L. Evans, noting that the program aims to prepare students for careers in an ever-changing world.
One example of that mission was the graphic- and fashion-design project of Taniya McCrea and Terry Moody, who backed up a poster-board presentation with a social-media campaign.
